De-construct art in MAAT
The most recent museum in Lisbon is entirely dedicated to Contemporary Art and Architecture.
The MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology) is the most recent museu in Lisbon. Built by the Tagus River, it was projected by the Britsh architect Amanda Levete.
On this particular topic, the spotlight is in the Oval Gallery, where the exposition Pychon Park, from French artist Dominique Gonzales-Foerster, constitutes the first part of the Utopia/Distopia installation. In this work, the public becomes part of the piece, as people are encouraged to touch and play with elements of the work, while others watch. The roles are then inverted.
It should be also noted that in the Central Tejo building there is the exhibit The World of Charles and Ray Eames, a retrospective of these English designers’ work and how they’ve impacted the 20th century.
The MAAT was born as a project from the Portuguese energy company EDP, the biggest one in the country.
